I know it’s a bit early for Christmas, but if I want to have a vaugley Christmasy song ready by then, I need to get working on it now. So far I have three verses, but no Chorus. The verses’ harmonic structure make it ‘need’ a chorus, so I’m quite open to any suggestions or collaboration on that front. Anyway, let me know what you think (suggestions / improvements please!):

The star of Bethlehem proclaimed that you had come

The light of world born as a little child

Though this light had come, we esteemed him not

In darkness we yelled ‘crucify’ to the Son of God

-

The radiant king of heav’n humbled to a cross

The light of the world extinguished for us

The holy spotless lamb took upon himself

The stain and curse of sinful man, our redemption’s cost

-

As we approach the tomb, the gravestone rolled away

We hear a message there proclaimed: ‘The king is risen today!’

Now we long to see the great and glorious day

When in blazing victory our saviour will return
